Jumbo frets, rosewood board, and C-shaped neck with 9. These have a thin nitro finish to let your tone come through and have that 'satin' look and feel. Really cool looking vintage relic look (see many pictures below). It feels great to play with a really nice action. This guitar wont disappoint, It does exactly what an American Strat should do. PS Try it with a Boss DS-1 (Keeley Mod), it will scream and moan for you. DescriptionThis is a 2009 USA made Fender Highway One Stratocaster in sunburst finish. Regrettably, I am looking to sell this beautiful 2004 Fender American Highway One Stratocaster. With a Stratocaster you need to work at the perfect tone, and that weeds out the wanna-be's! I call it the "Green Bastard" because it took alot of tinkering to make it perfect, but it's worth it. I own another strat and an 85 Les Paul but this one is the one I pick up the has a certain mojo. Any lower and you will get buzzing because of the staggered pickup magnets on the G & D. I have found that the tone is better with heavier strings 11's and the action between 6-7/64 low E and 5/64 high E. The finish is great, especially with the mint green pickguard. I especially prefer setting the switch in the 2 position (bridge and mid) with the bridge tone at 10 and the mid tone at 5. I customized the switch so one tone knob works for the neck and mid pickup and one tone for the bridge pickup. They are a bit noisy, but that is the way it should be. Although you do need to tinker with the pickup height, tone and volume and amp settings to get that special tone, but when you do.simply amazing. I wouldn't trade it for any other modern strat. I have one of the 2007 Highway One FSR Surf Green Strats. With the new Roadworns coming out of Mexico, as well as the Classic Players, it's hard to keep track of what's what. I believe that 2008 was the first year they started making the Texas Roadhouse Strat, which is essentially a direct replacement for the US built Texas Fat Strat, which replaced the US made Lone Star Strat around 2001. I also have a 2004 Standard, with the medium frets, and I never noticed the pickups on that one sounding noticably quieter than the 2005 pickups, so maybe they started using the hotter pickups prior to 2005? I have a friend with 1999 Standard, and we compared it last night with my 2006 Standard, and the pickups on the 2006 seem a lot hotter too. I believe 2005 is the first year the MIM Standards started coming with jumbo frets and thicker sustain blocks. What year(s) did Mexico start doing the 50's and 60's reissues? I believe the first ones were in '91 or '92, and were labeled as Squiers. I'm wondering if anyone can post or point me to a detailed explanation of the different kinds of Strats that Fender has made in Mexico?
